Tandoori paplet fish fry | Fried pomfret tandoori fry recipe

Tandoori pomfret fish fry is one of the best appetizer recipes for seafood lovers. You can make this recipe in a pan, grill pan, or oven. This rich, aromatic recipe is mildly spicy and tangy in taste.

Ingredients
  

For marination

  • 2 pomfret fish
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp lemon juice

For coating

  • 2 tbsp hung curd
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic-green chili paste
  • 1 tsp kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp tandoori masala
  • 1 tbsp besan (gram flour)
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp oil

Instructions
 

  • Wash and clean the pomfret with fresh water. Make 3 deep cuts on both sides of the fish with a knife. Repeat the process for the other fish
  • Take both fish on a plate. Apply ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp salt, and 2 tsp lemon juice to them. Let them marinate for 20 min.
  • In a mixing bowl, add 2 tbsp hung curd and 1 tbsp ginger garlic green chili mix paste. Add 1 tsp kashmiri red chili powder, and 1 tsp coriander powder. Add ½ tsp cumin powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp salt, ½ tsp garam masala, and 1 tbsp tandoori masala. Later, add 1 tbsp besan (gram flour), 2 tsp lemon juice, and 2 tsp oil. Mix all the spices well together and make a smooth paste.
  • Apply the paste to the pomfrets. Stuff some paste into the cuts made on the fish and cover the whole fish properly with paste.
  • Heat 5-6 tbsp oil in a pan on medium-high flame. Once the oil is hot enough, turn the flame down to low.
  • Carefully place the fish in the pan. Fry them for 6-7 min on each side till they turn golden brown.
  • Serve the hot tandoori pomfret fry with lemon wedges and onion on the side.

Notes

  • Adjust spices as per your taste.
  • Use a kitchen towel to dry the fish after washing.
  • Fry the fish on low heat so that it is cooked properly and the coating doesn’t burn.
